The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Tuesday extended for two more weeks a chamber judge’s order that earlier temporary stayed a HC verdict declaring mobile courts conducted by executive magistrates illegal and contradictory to the constitution.
A four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order following government provisional appeal for staying the HC verdict.
The bench passed the order after attorney general Mahbubey Alam sought for two weeks time for his preparation.
Earlier, on May 11, the High Court declared illegal of the operation of mobile court by the executive magistrate and later on May 14 after hearing on a government appeal the chamber judge stayed until may 18.
