The death toll following the collapse of a multi-story building at Savar has crossed 600 with the recovery of 54 more bodies on Sunday.
According to the army control room, so far 610 corpses have been retrieved and 490 of them handed over to the relatives.
Rescuers say that many more bodies are rotting under the heaps of rubbles and it is feared that many of them may be badly decomposing.
They say that the death toll is rising as rubbles are being cleared away from the site of Bangladesh’s worst industrial disaster.
Meanwhile, anxious relatives are still waiting at the playground of Adhar Chandra High School in Savar, as the confusion on the number of people missing since the collapse of Rana Plaza continues.
Leader of the Opposition Khaleda Zia has blamed the government for concealing the exact number of people killed, after the nine-storey building, housing at least five garment factories and many other offices, crumbled in a heap last month.
The army, which is leading in the rescue operations, has refuted the allegation.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has also dismissed the contention.
