Salahuddin: I want to go back

BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed said he wanted to go back to Bangladesh, saying that he was neither a criminal nor an absconder.

Salahuddin Ahmed also termed the criminal charges leveled against him as a political ploy by the Awami League led Bangladesh Government, The North East Today (popularly known as TNT), a news portal from North East India, reported.

“I want to go back to my country, but there is a red alert announced by the government which is not right as I am neither a criminal nor an absconder,” Ahmed said while talking to newsmen when he was being taken to do a city scan at a Hospital in Shillong on Monday.

Meanwhile, Meghalaya police had also received an Interpol alert to keep strict vigil on Ahmed who was arrested on Monday last.

About his sudden appearance in Meghalaya without any valid documents, Salahuddin claimed that he was kidnapped, tied up and blindfolded by his abducters who released him after 12 to 14 hours journey, the news organization quoted him.

“They (abducters) blind folded and tied me up and after travelling for 12 to 14 hours I found myself near a golf course after which I enquired about a police station and got here,” Salahuddin said further stating that he has no idea about the identity of his abducters as he was not his proper sense.

The report says Salahuddin’s kidnapped theory is however not totally digested by the state police, who feels that there is more than what meets the eye. The state police is awaiting for further orders to act upon from CBI.

Talking about his health, Salahuddin said that his is not keeping fine and expressed his willingness to seek better treatment. “I am not well I want better treatment,” he said.

It may be mentioned that Salahuddin was one of the most vocal spokesperson of the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party and he was reported missing from Bangladesh. Senior BNP leaders had blamed the Awami League government for his sudden disappearance and alleged the AL government of kidnapping salahuddin.
