Bangladesh ruling Awami League has announced its triennial council.
The party General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam said on Saturday that the 20th council would be held on March 28.
The decision was taken at the working committee meeting at Ganabhaban.
The last council, held on Dec 29 in 2012, re-elected Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as President and Islam as General Secretary.
The tenure of the committee expired on Dec 29.
The President, at the beginning of the meeting, extended the committee up to the council date.
The general secretary was tasked to form the council preparation sub-committees.
Born in 1949, Awami League, which led the nation’s freedom struggle, is the oldest political party in Bangladesh.
