The Foreign Minister said this during a meeting with the envoys of the Middle Eastern and North African countries based in Dhaka as part of her diplomatic briefings to the envoys of different regional groups scheduled for this week.
At the briefing, Dipu Moni talked about the preparations for holding the next general election and possible political dialogue between the government and the opposition, said a Foreign Ministry release.
She also discussed the ongoing labour law reform issues in Bangladesh and some concrete measures for the protection of Bangladesh’s migrant workers in the destination countries.
The Foreign Minister exchanged views with the envoys on certain areas of cooperation under the OIC, including support for establishing an endowment fund and a female dormitory at the Islamic University of Technology in Gazipur.
The envoys present at the meeting reiterated their full support to Bangladesh’s ongoing development efforts to attain a middle-income country status.
They said Bangladesh is now considered to be an attractive location by their potential investors and that a politically congenial atmosphere must prevail in order for FDI to flow from their countries into the thrust sectors in Bangladesh.
The Ambassadors thanked the Foreign Minister for keeping them updated on various issues of interest to them.
