The home ministry has issued a red alert at the airports and borders in a bid to prevent the three suspended RAB officials from leaving the country.
State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal made the disclosure while talking to journalists at his office on Thursday afternoon.
The ministry also sent a list of the suspects of the seven murder incident in Narayanganj to the airport and border authorities concerned. They have been asked to take necessary action to prevent the culprits from fleeing the country.
On Tuesday, former Commanding Officer of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) 11 Tareq Sayeed and two other officers – Major Arif and Lt Commander Rana – were sent to forced retirement following allegations of their involvement in the abductions and killings of seven people in Narayanganj.
Narayanganj panel mayor and ward councillor Nazrul Islam, his four aides, senior lawyer Chandan Sarker and his driver were abducted on April 27. Six bodies, including that of Nazrul and Chandan, were found floating in the Shitalakhya River three days later; another body was found the following day.
Nazrul’s father-in-law alleged that the RAB abducted and killed Nazrul and six others in exchange of Tk6 crore.
