A court here on Wednesday indicted five people, including railway east zone ex GM Yusuf Ali Mridha, in a graft case.
Metropolitan Sessions judge S M Mujibur Rahman fixed February 24 for starting the trial.
The other accused are Railway additional chief engineer (Mechnical) Hafizur Rahman, senior social welfare officer(suspended) Golam Kibria , Anisur Rahman and Abul Kashem. All the accused are absconding.
Court sources said Anti-Corruption Commission assistant director S M Rashedur Reza filed the case with Kotwali police station on September 13, 2012 against the five people for appointing unqualified persons by manipulating recruitment test results.
The ACC submitted chagesheet against them on August 18.
On April 9 , 2012 , Border Guard Bangladesh detained former Railways Minister Suranjut Sengupta’s assistant personal secretary and Mridha along with Tk 70 lakh stashed in a car. It was believed that the money was collected from job aspirants to railway as bribe.
Following the incident, Mridha was suspended.
