Rail minister nuptials ‘breaking’ namesake’s marriage

While laughing, Chunnu also jokingly warned the railways minister of dire consequences if the upcoming wedding caused his own family to fall apart

The cabinet yesterday shared a good laugh among them when State Minister for Labour Mujibul Haque Chunnu claimed of facing embarrassing situations caused by the marriage announcement of his namesake – Railways Minister Mujibul Hoque.

At yesterday’s cabinet meeting at the secretariat, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina – in good humour – suggested the railways minister to not delay a good deed such as marriage. Railways Minister Mujibul Hoque informed Hasina that he would get married at the end of October instead of December when it was originally scheduled.

At that time, the state minister for labour jokingly complained to the prime minister that his namesake’s marriage was causing his own family to break apart as people were mistakenly assuming that it was Chunnu who was getting married.

Relatives from the US and Canada were calling him over phone to ask about the reason behind his second marriage, Chunnu claimed. This prompted laughter among his cabinet colleagues, a state minister who attended the meeting told the Dhaka Tribune

While laughing, Chunnu also jokingly warned the railways minister of dire consequences if the upcoming wedding caused his own family to fall apart.

Chunnu also told the cabinet meeting that many people had asked his wife Roksana Kader, who is an additional secretary of Health Ministry, why her husband had decided to marry again.
