The Rab Forces Headquarters in a statement on Saturday slammed some media for publishing news about the involvement of one of its top officials in the Narayanganj seven murders.
“On June 4 and 5, several newspapers published news items that claimed two former Rab officers in their confessional statements before the court gave information about the complicity of a top Rab official in the seven murders.
Such news are ‘unwanted’ and defamatory to a disciplined force like Rab,” the Rab statement said.
It further said confessional statements produced before a magistrate is classified and there is no scope for anyone to have any knowledge of it.
If the name of any top official of the Rab Headquarters is mentioned in the confessional statement taken under section 164 of the CrPC, the investigators concerned would undertake further investigation and take legal steps against the accused official, the statement added.
