Quota protesters Nahid, Asif cordoned by DB police at hospital

Students Movement against Discrimination coordinator Nahid Islam and co-coordinator Asif Mahmud were reportedly cordoned by members of law enforcement agencies at Ganasasthya Nagar Hospital in the capital’s Dhanmondi area.

Confirming the matter to New Age, the platform co-coordinator Asif Mahmud alleged that he and Nahid Islam were cordoned by members of law enforcement agencies and detective branch police.

‘Five to six members of DB police are guarding the entrance of my room. Wifi connection and land phone connection were disconnected on Thursday midnight,’ said Asif, adding that huge number of members of Border Guard Bangladesh and other agencies were also deployed at the hospital.

He said that he was not allowed to talk to Nahid Islam.

DMP DB Ramna Division deputy commissioner denied the allegations.

‘The information is completely false,’ he added.

Earlier, Nahid and Asif both were allegedly picked by intelligence agencies.

Asif was reportedly given injectable drugs and remained unconscious for four days and Nahid faced physical and mental torture in his 26 hours missing period
