Bangladesh cricket head coach Shane Jurgensen spoke in favor of his resignation decision saying that the decision to quit is not an emotional one.
Jurgensen disagreed with the comment ‘emotional decision’ made by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) directors Jalal Yunus and Akram Khan a day after Jurgensen sent his resignation letter to BCB.
“The decision is well thought out, and not an emotional one,” Jurgensen told reporters at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport after arriving here Thursday.
He said he wants to keep the door of dialogue open with the BCB and will take the ultimate decision after much dialogue.
“I won’t be able to comment as I want to talk to the BCB first in a couple of days’ time, said Jurgensen.
“What is important now is to meet some people I have worked with. I want to talk through the issues. For me the priority is to sort out the ODI series against India, so that’s what I am looking at,” he added.
However, Captain Mushfiqur Rahim hopes that Jurgensen would reverse his decision.
Jurgensen who sent his resignation letter on Monday last to the BCB and the board is yet to accept his resignation, saying that the board had never planned to remove him from his post, board will try to negotiate.
The reason behind the unexpected decision was that coach Jurgensen was unhappy over some comments to the media made by some of the directors who have talked about looking for a batting-oriented coach.
