Qawmi leaders want to see Sheikh Hasina in power again
They said no government had listened to their demands before
Qawmi leaders have expressed the desire to see Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in power for the third consecutive term.
“Since Sheikh Hasina has given recognition [of the top Qawmi madrasa degree] we want her to come to power again, so that she can fulfill the rest of our demands,” Qawmi leader Fazlul Karim said in his address at a rally in Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka on Sunday.
Al-Hiyatul Ulya Lil-Zami’atil Qawmiya Bangladesh, a combination of Qawmi education boards, organized the rally titled “Shokrana Mahfil” to accord a receptionto the prime minister following the recognition of the Dawra-e-Hadith (Takmil) degree of the Qawmi madrasa system.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended the event as the chief guest. Hefazat-e-Islam Ameer Shah Ahmad Shafi is set to preside over the program.
The speakers said there is a change in Bangladesh now, and Qawmi leaders were not able to give a reception to any prime minister before with such warmthbecause nonehad listened to their demands.
On September 18, parliament passed a bill to recognize the Dawra-e-Hadith (Takmil) degree with the status of a post-graduate degreeinIslamic Studies and Arabic.
The government postponed Sunday’s Junior School Certificate and Junior Dakhil Certificate examinations to November 9 for the event.
