They also described Shahriar Kabir, Muntasir Mamun, Nasir Uddin Yusuf Bachchu and Imran H Sarker as atheists and demanded that they be arrested.
The demand came from a Shan-e-Risalat rally organised by the Islamist outfit on Kaburhat High School ground in Sadar upazila in the afternoon.
Hefajat organised the rally on the school ground as the administration cancelled the permission in the eleventh hour for holding the programme on the Public Library ground.
The speakers categorically said their movement is not to save any party but to demand punishment to those who defiled Islam and Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh), and vowed to continue the movement until their 13-point demand is met.
They also termed ‘false’ Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s claim that the country is being run as per the Medina Charter, and alleged that the present government kept cheating the Muslims since its assumed office.
The Hefajat leaders also said those who spoke in favour of the atheists in parliament must apologise.
They also warned the government that it must implement Hefajat’s 13 demands if it wants to stay in power or return to power.
Hefajat-e-Islam nayeb-e-ameer Mufti Wakkas, central leader Mufti Habibullah, Khelafat Majlish nayeb-e-ameer Maulana Mojibar Rahman Peshawari and its joint secretary general Prof Sirajul Haque, among others, addressed the rally held with Hefajat district president Mufti Abdul Hamid in the chair.
