Public uni admission tests begin Oct 1

The public universities of the country are set to begin their admission tests from October 1 and will continue to take the tests through to December.

The schedules for the 31 public universities were recently announced by the Association of Universities of Bangladesh, a platform of vice chancellors from all public universities.

A meeting of the association, chaired by its President Ruhul Amin, finalised the schedules last Tuesday.

The series of admission tests will kick off with the exam for National University on October 1.

Dhaka University will hold admission tests for its different units on October 9, 10, 16, 17, 30 and November 6.

Jagannath University will take its tests on October 10, 11, 17, 18, 31 and November 7.

Students will be able to sit for the Jahangirnagar University admission tests between October 25 and November 5.

The admission exams for Chittagong University will be on November 1 to 9; Rajshahi University on November 9 to 12; Khulna University on December 11 and 12; Barisal University on November 27 and 28; and Comilla University on December 5 and 6.

Aspiring students will appear in the admission test for Bangladesh University of Professionals on October 23, 24, 30 and 31; Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur on December 4, 5 and 6; Islamic University in Kushtia on November 15 to 19; and Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University from November 9 to 12.

Meanwhile, the admission tests of engineering universities are likely to begin on October 10.

Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) will hold its test on October 10 or 17; Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (Cuet) on October 31; Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (Ruet) on November 14; Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (Kuet) on November 6 and Bangladesh Textile University on November 20 or November 27.

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology will hold its test on November 14; Pabna Science and Technology University on November 13; Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University on November 30, December 1, 2 and 3; Jessore University of Science and Technology on November 20 and 21; Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University in Tangail on November 27 and 28; Patuakhali Science and Technology University on December 13 and 14; and Noakhali Science and Technology University on November 20 and 21.

The agriculture universities will begin their admission tests on November 14 with the first one taking place at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University in Gazipur.

Bangladesh Agricultural University in Mymensingh will hold its test on December 5; Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University in Dhaka on December 18; Sylhet Agricultural University on November 18 and Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University on November 7.

Among the 36 public universities, the BSMMU and Open University do not take first year honours students while three others universities are yet to begin academic activities.
