But the prime minister shrugged off the objection, a person present at the meeting told bdnews24.com.
Dhaka traffic police last month installed ‘Protirodh’, a device with metal spikes that closes to let vehicles running in the right direction pass near the state guest house ‘Sugandha’ but clamps on to those coming in the wrong direction.
“During an unscheduled discussion, a minister asked why the device should be placed on a street in this particular area,” the source said, adding that several others shared the indignation of their Cabinet colleague.
Residents of the ministers and other VIPs are located near Sugandha.
“However, the prime minister said, ‘everyone should welcome a positive initiative’,” said the source, preferring anonymity.
“No one said anything further once the prime minister welcomed the device,” he said.
