A clash ensued between police and protesters in front of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Paltan area this afternoon.
The protesters tried to block the road around 2pm in front of the mosque after taking part in Jumma prayers, reports our staff correspondent quoting eye-witnesses. They were protesting against sculptures.
As Paltan police tried to bar them from doing so, the protesters attacked police with brick-bats, said Abu Bakar Siddique, officer-in-charge of Paltan Police Station.
Police charged batons in retaliation and dispersed the crowd, the OC added.
