President Abdul Hamid and prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday invited the US president-elect, Donald J Trump and his spouse Melania Trump to Dhaka.
They conveyed the invitation in separate congratulatory messages sent to Donald Trump on his election as the 45th president of the USA.
President Hamid said existing friendly relations between the two countries would further deepen in the days ahead under the able leadership of Trump.
Hasina said she was looking forward to working closely with Trump for advancing the bilateral and multilateral interests of the two countries and contributing to a safe and secure world where the coming generations could live and continue to prosper peacefully.
In this connection, the Bangladesh premier expressed her confidence that under the leadership of Donald Trump the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the USA would be further strengthened in the days to come.
Sheikh Hasina invited Donald J Trump and Melania Trump to visit Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time and see for themselves the phenomenal development that took place in Bangladesh in the recent years.
In a separate message, Jatiya Sangsad speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury congratulated Donald Trump.
Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia also congratulated Donald Trump on his win in the US presidential elections, according to a party press release.
