President Abdul Hamid on Saturday left here for Singapore on Saturday night for medical checkup at Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
A regular flight of Singapore Airlines carrying the President took off Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10:15pm.
Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury, Textiles and Jute Minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui, the chiefs of the three services and other senior government officials saw Hamid off at the airport.
His personal physician is accompanying the President. The President is expected to return home on May 9.

There we go again – a sick President needing medical check up at poor people’s cost. We just got rid of one and I thought this one will be less burden on the tax payer’s money. I guess I was wrong. Why couldn’t he get this done earlier and at his own cost?
