President Abdul Hamid has invited BNP chief Khaleda Zia to attend a reception to celebrate the 45th Independence and National Day of Bangladesh.
A letter has already been sent to Khaleda’s political office in Gulshan, requesting her to join the reception hosted by the president at Bangabhaban, the presidential palace, on March 26.
BNP’s Media Wing Official Shamsuddin Didar told the Dhaka Tribune that he received the invitation letter on Wednesday afternoon.
The president of the country every year hosts a reception at Bangabhaban marking the country’s Independence and National Day.
Prime minister, speaker of the parliament, chief justice of the Supreme Court, cabinet members, advisers to the prime minister, state ministers, diplomats, senior lawyers, supreme court judges, election commissioners, cabinet secretary, chiefs of three services, members of the parliament, senior political leaders, national professors, editors, senior civil and military officers, academics, business community leaders, senior journalists, religious leaders, artistes and distinguished citizens join the reception at lawn of the Bangabhaban.
