BD Speaker meets Indian President
Indian President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday said the overall development of the region would be ensured once the potential for development of South Asian countries are fully exploited through Saarc.
The Indian President also said Saarc can work as a bridge between the East Asia and West Asia.
He came up with the remark when Bangladesh Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury met him at Rastrapati Bhaban in New Delhi, said a Parliament Secretariat media release.
The Speaker also conveyed the note of greetings from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to the Indian President.
She said both the countries would be benefited further if the existing socioeconomic cooperation is continued in the coming days.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to New Delhi Tariq Karim was also present at the meeting.
Earlier, Speaker met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House, in New Delhi.
The Speaker, who represented Bangladesh in the ceremony, is likely to return home on Wednesday.
