Election Commissioner M Shah Nawaz on Friday said the schedule for the next general election might be announced by Monday.
Talking to reporters after attending the chehlam for a local Awami League leader in the district town, he also said the 10th parliamentary elections are likely to be held by the first week of January.
Shah Nawaz said the Election Commission has completed all necessary preparations to hold the election in a free and fair manner.
Replying to a query about resentment among the EC staff over their facilities, he said the EC has huge field-level officials and employees and there were problems and irregularities with their service rules.
“We’re working to resolve these problems,” the Election Commissioner said, adding that he does not think it’s a big issue.
