English Medium School Students-Guardians Forum on Thursday urged the political parties not to enforce any agitation programme like hartal, blockade and long march during the upcoming O-level and A-level examinations beginning on May 7 under the Cambridge and Edexcel syllabuses.
“Examinees and guardians are worried about this year’s O, and A-level examinations due to the ongoing movement of the BNP-led 18-party alliance, Hefajat-e-Islam and Ganajagaran Mancha,” Forum convener Quamrul Islam Sony and five others said in a joint statement.
They said it is difficult to defer the examinations as those are held in different countries across the world at a time.
“In case of any dawn-to-dusk hartal, the examinations were used to be held at night in the past. The examinations will be cancelled if the hartal exceeds 24 hours,” the statement said.
It said the candidates also feel heavy mental pressure and uncertainty due to the torching of vehicles on the eve of any hartal and road blockade programme and cop-people clashes during hartal.
