Police have pressed charges against BNP leader Sadeque Hossain Khoka over treason.
Paltan police’s Inspector (investigations) Tofael Ahmed submitted the chargesheet in the court of Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Bikash Kumar Saha on Monday.
Court police’s sub-inspector Moazzem Hossain told bdnews24.com that the court has set Dec 14 for hearing on whether the charges would be taken into cognisance.
The case refers to Khoka’s statement made at a gathering on Oct 14 last year, when he called upon supporters to ‘prepare with axe, machetes’ to ‘oust’ the then Awami League-led Grand Alliance government.
The chargesheet accuses the former Dhaka City mayor of inciting violence through his statement.
