A Special Branch (SB) Inspector and his wife have been found dead in a Chamelibagh house in Dhaka, police say.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman identified the dead as Mohammad Mahfuz, 45, and ‘Swapna’, 42.
They used to dwell on the fourth floor of the house with their son and daughter.
The police official said the blood-stained bodies were recovered from a bathroom of the flat which was locked outside on Friday evening.
He said both bodies bore stab wounds.
Deputy Inspector General of Police’s Special Branch Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan told reporters on the spot Mahfuz had gone to the house at 11pm on Wednesday and did not contact his office, as the next was a public holiday (National Mourning Day).
The daughter, ‘Oishi’ is studying O-Level in an English medium school and the son, ‘Oihee’ is only 7-year old.
Quoting Oihee, a police official, seeking anonymity, told bdnews24.com, Oishi on Thursday morning told her brother that their parents had left the house out of anger.
She then went out with Oihee to visit her uncle.
Later, Oihee was sent to a neighbour’s house in an auto-rickshaw, he added.
Police are yet to know the whereabouts of Oishi.
bdnews24.com Correspondent Golam Mujtaba said the slain couple used to live in one of the two bed rooms of the three-room flat.
Oishi used to stay in the other.
He said the bodies were found at the bathroom attached to Oishi’s room.
DIG Bhuiyan suspected hate behind the “planned murder” which was committed by at “least four persons.”
Police’s Additional Deputy Commissioner (Motijheel Zone) Mehedi Hasan said they recovered a kitchen knife and a knife.
Golam Mujtaba said he found the room of Oishi a little messy.
Their neighbours said they never felt there was any dispute between the couple.
Mehedi said, “We’re investigating the case. We hope to reveal the real incident very soon.”
