PM also plans to set up coal based power project at Potuakhali
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has issued directive for renewable energy to be used in every sector.
The premier made the statement at a meeting with the officials of the Power, Energy and Mineral Resources ministry on Thursday.
The prime minister’s energy adviser Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury and Nasrul Hamid, the state minister for Power, Energy and Mineral resources briefed the journalist about their meeting with the prime minister.
Nasrul Hamid said that the PM outlined a five year work plan. She also directed them to take prompt steps regarding the gas crisis.
Hasina told the ministry officials to implement the incomplete projects within a year using the states own money as there is enough in the reserve of foreign currency.
About the Boropukuria project, the PM said: “First we have to protect the agricultural land to feed the people. Then we will think about the mining in future with the latest technology.”
The prime minister has also planned to set up a coal based power project at Potuakhali as early as possible.
Tawfiq-e-Elahi said that the government would implement their election manifesto and boost the production of electricity.
