Wrapping her four-day official tour of Japan, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday night left Tokyo for home.
The Prime Minster and her entourage departed Haneda International Airport around 12:10 am, local time, (BST 09:10 pm) by a VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Masud Bin Momen and Shigeyuki Hiroki, Chief of Protocol of Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs saw her off at the airport.
The Prime Minister is expected to reach Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday at 7:00 am.
During her stay in Japan, the Prime Minister held summit-level talks with her Japanese counterpart at his office on May 26 when Japan pledged an assistance of 600 billion yen (equivalent to US$5.90 billion) to Bangladesh over the next five years.
During their joint press conference, Japanese Premier Shinzo Abe said his country has proposed the formation of Bay of Bengal Industrial Growth Belt to help Bangladesh realise its huge economic potentials and expedite its growth.
Besides, Sheikh Hasina at a meeting with Japanese Emperor Akihito during her visit to the Imperial Palace invited the Emperor and Empress Michiko for visiting Bangladesh to see for themselves the development achieved by the country since the Emperor’s last visit to the country in 1975.
In a keynote speech at a business seminar on ‘Investment and Business Opportunities in Bangladesh’, she urged the Japanese businesses to avail themselves of the opportunities that are awaiting them in Bangladesh.
The Prime Minister also addressed a luncheon event hosted by Japan Bangladesh Committee for Commercial and Economic Cooperation (JBCCEC), and invited them to be Bangladesh’s partners in business.
Moreover, Hasina addressed an audience at the Waseda University in Tokyo on ‘Education and Empowerment of the Youth’ hoping that the educated generation will create a safe and secure world for the posterity, sweeping away all the barriers and prejudices.
The Prime Minister also talked to a nine-member delegation of Japan-Bangladesh Parliamentary Friendship League led by Takeo Kawamura.
