PM flies to Japan Saturday

This is the premier’s first bilateral visit to any country after the ruling AL government took office

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will leave for Japan on a four-day official visit to the country on May 25.

Prime Minister’s Office sources said the premier is to leave Dhaka for Tokyo on Saturday night at the invitation of her Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe.

A VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the prime minister and members of her entourage is scheduled to take off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 12 midnight on Saturday, BSS reports.

The flight is expected to reach Haneda International Airport in Tokyo at 1pm (Japan time) on May 25.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Masud Bin Momen and Chief of Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan Shigeyuki Hiroki will receive the prime minister at the airport.

This will be Sheikh Hasina’s first bilateral visit to any country after the ruling Awami League government took office through the January 5 elections.

After a warm welcome at the airport, Sheikh Hasina will be taken to Akasaka Palace, a state guest house, at Motoakasaka, Minato in Tokyo through a ceremonial motorcade where she will be staying during her four-day visit to Japan.
