BNP has created a reign of terror during their five-year misrule, says PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today vowed to build Bangladesh as a peaceful country, saying that it will no more be a place for terrorism, militancy and corruption.

“Bangladesh was blacklisted for unbridled terrorism, militancy and corruption during the five-year misrule of the BNP- Jamaat government. However, the country is now freed from this stigma as we have contained these social vices with an iron hand,” she said, BSS reports.

“There is no room for terrorism, militancy, corruption, ‘Bangla Bhai’ and money-laundering in Bangladesh and it would be established as a peaceful country in the world,” she asserted.

The Prime Minister said Bangladesh was known as a sanctuary for terrorists, militants and corrupts during the rule of the BNP-Jamaat government as it patronized these crimes. “They created a reign of terror during their five-year misrule.”

The Premier said this while inaugurating a four-day programme of International Mother Language Day at International Mother Language Institute (IMLI) in the capital this afternoon.

With Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid in the chair, the function was addressed by Education Secretary Mohammad Sadik and Director General of IMLI Dr Jinat Imtiaz Ali.

Professor Emeritus of University of Liberal Arts, Bangladesh Rafiqul Islam presented the keynote paper on the Amar Ekushey and the International Mother Language Day.
