Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu on Wednesday called upon the young physicians to work with the mentality of serving the nation.
“Thousands of patients every year are going aboard for treatment as the country’s physicians lack the mentality to serve the nation though Bangladesh has got many highly educated physicians. It’s creating a crisis of people’s confidence in physicians in addition to the wastage of foreign currency,” he said.
The minister said this while addressing a training programme of the BCS (Health) cadres at the Biam Foundation auditorium in the city.
To build Bangladesh as an industrialised middle-income country, a healthy population is needed, the minister said adding that the country’s physicians can play an important role in this regard.
He advised the young generation to consider the service to patients as a sacred duty.
