Senior BNP leader Goyeshwar Chandra Roy has alleged that government is influencing the passport authority to delay replacement of his old passport with a new machine-readable one.
Goyeshwar held a press conference at BNP’s Naya Paltan headquarters to allege that government has been influencing the passport issuing authorities to delay the delivery of his machine readable passport. He also alleged that his some other party colleagues too also experiencing the problem in getting their passports.
He suspects the passport issuing authorities are doing this at the behest of the government to ‘harass’ BNP leaders.
“Any citizen has the right to have his own passport. The government is violating this right in every possible ways.”
Also a BNP standing committee member, Goyeshwar said he had followed every required step in applying for a machine readable passport which was supposed to be delivered on September 18.
“They (the passport authorities) are also delaying delivery of passports of party’s senior leaders like Khandker Mosharraf Hossain, Rafiqul Islam Miah, Mirza Abbas and Nitai Roy Chowdhury,” he claimed.
