The government on Tuesday made former Bridges Division Secretary Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan an Officer on Special Duty (OSD), barely a day after the Anti-Corruption Commission sued him and six others for alleged ‘conspiracy to exchange bribes’ on the Padma bridge project.
Mosharaff Hossain Bhuiyan was declared prime accused in the graft case that centered round giving Canadian construction firm SNC-Lavalin consultancy for the project.
Bhuiyan is already on forced leave after the World Bank raised corruption charges and imposed several conditions to maintain transparency in the project.
Bhuiyan was moved from the Bridges Division and made the Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority at the Prime Minister’s Office.
The Public Administration Ministry has now issued an order on Monday making him an OSD at the ministry. The order was released on Tuesday afternoon.
The ACC filed the case at Banani Police station on Monday against the seven persons on charges of ‘conspiring to exchange bribes’ to give SNC-Lavalin consultancy for the biggest infrastructure project of Bangladesh so far.
