BNP acting secretary general denounces the killings as a ‘planned drama’
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has alleged that the opposition activists have fallen victim to extra-judicial killing perpetrated by law enforcers in the country.
The extra-judicial killing was a “planned drama,” according to what he said during a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan central offices in the capital on Monday.
He called the extra-judicial killing a threat to the country’s democracy.
“No citizen is safe in the country if this extra-judicial killing is allowd to carry on,” Fakhrul said citing Monday’s Satkhira “gunfight” between Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal activists and members of the joint forces, which left a local JCD leader dead.
He urged the journalists to highlight such stories in the media for the sake of the people’s safety and the country’s democracy.
The government should take steps to create a democratic atmosphere in the country through dialogue after dissolving the parliament which he termed as “illegal.”
