Oishee Rahman, now on remand in connection with her parents’ killing, on Wednesday underwent various tests at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) to determine her age.
The investigators put her on medical test amid widespread criticism from various quarters, including rights groups, for taking her on remand as she is thought to be underage.
Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan police took Oishee to the DMCH at noon.
Sources at the hospital said she was taken to X-ray department of the hospital at about 3:15 pm.
Contacted, assistant professor Dr Shohel Mahmud at the Forensic Medicine department of the hospital said it is necessary to conduct some physical examinations and radiological X-rays to determine one’s age.
Dr Farzana of Forensic Medicine has already completed physical examination of Oishee. Besides, she underwent different types of X-ray for analysing bone structure, Dr Prof Mahmud said.
Later, the forensic experts would analyse both the reports to determine Oishee’s age.
Prof Mahmud hoped that he would get the X-ray report on Thursday or Sunday next.
A Dhaka court on Sunday placed Oishee Rahman, an O level student of Oxford International School, put her on a five-day remand in connection with the killing of her father SB inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and mother Swapna.
Oishee’s intimate friend Mizanur Rahman and domestic help Khadiza Khatun alias Sumi are also being interrogated by DB on a 5-day remand in connection with the killing.
On Friday afternoon, police recovered the bodies of Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna from their Chamelibagh residence. There were marks of injuries caused from sharp weapons allover the bodies of the victims.
