Asking the polling officials to work sincerely and neutrally, Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad on Monday said no one will be spared if found guilty of playing a biased role and being callous in performing his or her duty.

‘You’ll have to work with neutrality…the Election Commission won’t tolerate any sort of callousness and partiality…stern actions will be taken for the breach of neutrality,’ he said on the eve of elections to three city corporations in Dhaka and Chittagong, reports United News of Bangladesh.
The three city corporations — Dhaka South City Corporation, Dhaka North City Corporation and Chittagong City Corporation – go to polls on Tuesday.
The CEC was addressing a press conference at the media centre of the Election Commission Secretariat in the evening.
He also claimed that the election campaign in the three city corporations completed almost smoothly barring some stray incidents.
Responding to a query about BNP’s claim that a level-playing field was missing, Rakibuddin Ahmad said everybody carried out his or her election campaign in a congenial and friendly atmosphere except one or two separate incidents. ‘This proves that the level-playing field was there,’ he added.
Assuring all the voters of a festive and safe atmosphere for balloting, the CEC urged all to come to the polling stations and cast their votes without any fear.
About army deployment on the election day, he said the army will be called out, if necessary, in aid of the civil administration.
‘If the police, Rab and BGB fail to tackle the situation then the returning officer will call for army deployment after considering the situation,’ he said.
He also mentioned that 80,000 law enforcers will be deployed in the polling centers to maintain the peaceful situation.
