Health Minister Mohammad Nasim on Tuesday said there is no political definition of crime, as a guilty person is always a guilty person.
“We always identify a guilty person as a guilty person. We don’t involve politics in it, and I believe it has no relationship with politics,” he told reporters in reply to queries over the seven murders in Narayanganj and killing of a upazila parishad chairman in Feni.
The minister was addressing a press briefing after a meeting of Awami League-led 14-party at Awami League President Sheikh Hasina’s Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi political office.
President of Workers Party of Bangladesh and Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon presided over the meeting.
Nasim, also the Presidium member of the ruling Awami League, further said, “The government will take actions against culprits, no matter who they are.”
The Awami League leader said, “We’re worried over the incidents that took place in Narayanganj, Feni and some other places. Any criminal act is very unfortunate for the country. Only arrest is not enough, the criminals must be punished.”
The meeting congratulated Narendra Modi government on forming a new government in India. “India will go forward in solving undecided issues with a friendly attitude with Bangladesh through discussions.”
Rashed Khan Menon said the government has taken steps into the recent criminal activities. “I think, the government will move ahead with a zero tolerance policy in this regard.”
Fourteen-party leaders Dilip Barua, Sheikh Shahidul Islam, Wazedul Islam Khan were, among others, were present at the press briefing.
