BNP’s Dhaka city unit convener Mirza Abbas on Tuesday said no one will be able to resist their senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman’s from coming back home whenever he wishes to do so.
“Tarique will return home the day he wants to be back. No force is there that can resist him. The day is not so far away when Tarique will be back home, no matter who says what,” he said.
Abbas, also a BNP standing committee member, was addressing a discussion organised by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal at the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh, marking BNP senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman’s 7th ‘jail release’ day.
He said there was a plot after the 1/11 changeover to kill Tarique Rahman but the conspirators failed to do so. “We hope, he (Tarique) will be back home soon and take the helm of the party and lead us,” the BNP leader said.
Abbas alleged that the government is making various evil designs and laws one after another to hang onto power.
Mentioning that the country’s people are now in a suffocating situation due to misrule, he said they now want to get rid of it.
The BNP leader urged the current regime to hold a fresh inclusive election under a non-party administration to establish a democratic and pro-people government.
