Health Minister Mohammad Nasim has demanded action against North South University (NSU) after several students of the top private university were found to be involved with two deadly terrorist attacks in Bangladesh, reports state-run news agency BSS.
Referring to the NSU students’ involvement in deadly terrorist attacks in Gulshan and Sholakia, the minister said: “The attacker who died after killing police personnel near Sholakia Eidgah was also a student of North South.
“What are they teaching there? Actions must be taken against them.”
Awami League presidium member and 14-party Alliance coordinator Nasim was speaking at a meeting on Sunday at Awami League central office on Bangabandhu Avenue.
Awami League’s Dhaka City South and North units organised the meeting ahead of a 14-party rally on Monday against terrorism and militancy at Central Shaheed Minar.
Nasim said the government would review the activities of NSU as its students were found involved with the deadly militant attacks in Gulshan and Sholakia.
“Religion does not permit such terrorist activities. Defeated forces of Liberation War are unleashing these activities in the name of religion. BNP-Jamaat clique is now playing a new game,” The 14-party spokesman said.
He called for forming anti-terrorism committees at every village and town.
“Imams of mosques and school teachers should be made head of the committees comprising people of all classes,” Nasim said.
