Bangladesh wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim went a step ahead in bantering and mocked Indian team’s semifinal loss to West Indies and faced a lot of blacklash.
Allegedly, just after India’s demoralising defeat, the Bangladesh player tweeted, “Happiness is this….!!! #ha ha ha..!!!! India lost in the semifinal.” He attached a Dhoni picture with the tweet which he later deleted.
However, this is clear that Mushfiqur posted a smiling selfie with West Indies players celebrating on his TV screen. It was not the selfie that angered the Indian fans but his caption, where he wrote, “Happiness is this….Now i can sleep much better…Windies u beauty!!!!”.
Soon after the outrage on Twitter and Facebook, Mushfiqur was quick to delete the selfie.
Mushfiqur later tweeted another statement with sincere apology but faced massive backlash there as well.

Mushfiq has the right to his opinion & he is NOT on a popularity contest. West Indies by any definition, is a very strong team. Indians shud accept defeat in good grace & play on.
A cricket match or a football match does not have to turn into a war. Pls give chance to “sports-man spirit”.
What is wrong with that? It is quite natural to feel happy when one’s opponent gets defeated, especially in a case where his own blunder (which he apologised for) was the cause for India’s elevation to that game. Also, West Indies is not undeserving of a win in a T20 game which could be anybody’s game on a certain day if certain player clicks. It is a very short format of a game to judge a team’s competence.
