Mujahid’s family expects justice in review

Family of war crimes convict and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujahid expects justice in the review petition verdict.

Mujahid’s wife Tamanna Islam said this to journalists after meeting her husband at Dhaka Central Jail on Friday.

She also sought cooperation from President, Prime Minister, Chief Justice and other concerned authorities in this regard.
His family members entered the jail around 11.00am and came out around 11.25am. Five-member family included his wife Tamanna Islam, three sons-Ali Ahmed Mabrur, Tajdid and Takbir and daughter Tamrin.

The lawyers of Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujahid said this to journalists after a meeting with the Jamaat leader at Dhaka Central Jail on Saturday.

Earlier his lawyers said he has decided to file a review petition against the verdict of Appellate Division of the Supreme Court that has upheld his death penalty in war crimes cases.

In last week, International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) issued death warrants against Jamaat-e-Islami leader Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid after the publication of Appellate Division`s verdict that upheld his death penalty for crimes in 1971.

On July 17 in 2013, ICT-2 found the Jamaat secretary general Mujahid guilty of five out of seven charges brought against him. The tribunal sentenced him to death on three charges.
