The government officials and employees would get salary and other benefits as per the new pay scale from the first month of the next fiscal, Finance Minister AMA Muhith has hinted.

The minister made the disclosure while talking to journalists at his secretariat office after holding a meeting with the delegation of International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Tuesday, reports BSS.

“I hope the report of the pay commission would be available in December, and if the report is simple, I think it does not take any more time for implementation, but if the report is complex and need any recast. . . it’s tough to say that it is not possible to implement this fiscal,” he added.

The finance minister, however, said: “Recommendations of Pay Commission will be executed from the next fiscal if the implementation of it is delayed.”

Regarding meeting with IMF, Muhith said: “We don’t want to extend the duration of Extended Credit Facility (ECF) and it does not have any necessity, rather any type of new scheme would be initiated instead.”

The World Bank would provide $50 crore to Bangladesh as budget assistance and it could be used in the next fiscal if the agreement is signed, he informed.
