A female journalist suffered serious injuries after she jumped from the fourth floor of her residence on the news that her minor daughter had died.
Nazneen Akhter, a senior reporter at the Daily Janakantha, was admitted at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital in critical condition.
She is the wife of Rakibul Islam Mukul, the assignment editor of the private station Gazi TV.
The 6-year-old daughter of the journalist couple, Chandramukhi, died in the afternoon on Monday, Janakantha’s Special Correspondent Uttam Chakrabarti told bdnews24.com.
Chandramukhi had been under intensive care at the Shishu Hospital for the last five days. She had been suffering from liver ailments.
Akhter apparently attempted to jump to her death from the top floor of their Kalyanpur flat and was first taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.
She is said to have her head badly injured.
