Moncho activist attacked in capital

A Gonojagoron Moncho activist has come under attack at the capital’s Karwan Bazar area in the capital on Tuesday afternoon.

The victim was said to be Sishir. According to Habubullah Mesbah, president of an organization called Jagrata Janata and Mehedi Hasan, president of Mukijoddha Sangshad Santan Command, the victim has been a ganajagoron activist since the beginning of the movement.

Shishir is now at emergency ward in Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Kamal Pasha Chowdhury, a leader of Gonojagoron Moncho, has blamed Imran for attack on Sishir, an activist of the youth platform.

He has made the allegation at a press conference on Tuesday evening at Shahbagh in the capital.

Pasha said: “Imran was the instigator behind the attack on Sishir and we are demanding punishment to him.”

Earlier, both Mesbah and Mehedi alleged that the attack was done by supporters of Imran H Sarkar.

However, Imran H Sarkar rejected the allegation, calling it “disappointing”. “If any blame is placed on me and it is not true, it would be very sad,” he said.

Mesbah’s allegations claim that about 8-10 of Imran H Sarkar’s supporters, including Nabendu Saha Joy, Ornob, Sunny and Siraj attacked Shishir in the area near the Bangla Vision office in the Karwan Bazar area around 2:30pm.

When contacted, Joy said “I am at my sister’s house where I am to take rest following the recent attack that injured me.”
