A Dhaka court on Sunday rejected bail petitions of five persons accused in Jubo League leader Riazul Haque Khan Milky murder case.
The organising secretary of the Dhaka city (south) unit of Jubo League was gunned down allegedly by Jahid Siddique Tarek, joint-secretary of the same Jubo League unit, in the capital’s Gulshan area at 1:07am on July 30.
Metropolitan Magistrate Md Tanvir Ahmed rejected the bail petitions on Sunday after counsels for the five accused submitted separate bail on behalf of their clients.
The accused are: Saidul Islam alias Nuruzzaman, 22; Tuhinur Rahman, 25; Sayed Mostafa Ali Rumi, 33; Md Rashed Mahmud, 25; and Md Sujon Hawlader, 22.
On July 31, another court placed six people including the five on a seven-day remand.
Milky’s brother Major Rashedul Haque Khan filed the murder case with Gulshan Police Station on July 30.
Hours after the murder, members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested Tarek at a hospital in Uttara.
He was killed in a “shootout” between Rab members and his cohorts at Kaola near the Shahjalal International Airport on July 31 night when the law enforcers were taking him to Gulshan Police Station.
Earlier, two other accused in the case Md Jahangir Mondol and Fahima Islam Lopa, the wife of Milky’s close aide Maruf Reza Sagar, gave confessional statements to the courts in connection with the case on different dates.
