Mehedi Hasan

Bangladesh off-spinner Mehedi Hasan jumped to his career best position in the latest ICC Test ranking after producing a mesmerising performance during the second Test against West Indies in Dhaka that ended on Sunday.
Mehedi, who finished with 12-117, the best bowling figure for a Bangladeshi bowler in a Test match, moved to 16th position in the bowlers’ ranking as his tremendous effort saw him a lift of 14 places.
Mehedi claimed career best bowling figure of 7-58 in the first innings against West Indies before he put the visitors in trouble once again with 5-59 in the second innings that inspired Bangladesh to register an innings and 184-run win in the second Test.
In batsmen’s ranking, skipper Sakib al Hasan gained seven places to become Bangladesh’s highest-ranked Test batsman after making a valuable contribution of 80 runs in the first innings in Dhaka.
Sakib moved from 28th to 21st position while Mahmudullah also gained 15 places to reach a career high 48thposition after making a brilliant 136 in Bangladesh’s total of 508.
However, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mominul Haque had slipped seven and two places to hold 28th and 26th position respectively at the moment.
Bangladesh skipper Sakib held the number one Test all-rounder position after making valiant efforts both with bat and bowl in the recently-concluded series against West Indies.
Irrespective of their 2-0 series win over the Caribbean side, Bangladesh failed to overtake West Indies in the Test ranking.
Bangladesh gained eight rating points to take their tally to 69 points while West Indies dropped six points to remain just above their hosts with 70 points in the latest ICC Test ranking.
