Mahmudullah hits another century

new-Zealand

The 29-year old scored Bangladesh’s maiden World Cup century against England in their last match at Adelaide on Monday.

His innings against New Zealand on Thursday mirrored his last innings (103), as Bangladesh were in a dire situation when he came at the crease.

Mahmudullah, dropped on 1, took charge almost at once, combining with Soumya Sarkar (51) for 90 in the third wicket and Sabbir Rahman (40) for a quick-fire 78 in the sixth wicket.

He scored his hundred off 111 balls.

His 123-ball unbeaten knock contained 12 boundaries and three sixes.

He and Sabbir bludgeoned 104 runs in the last 10 overs to hoist Bangladesh to an imposing 288 for 7.

Shahriar Nafees is the only Bangladesh batsman who hit two successive ODI centuries, against Zimbabwe in 2006.
