Argentina and Barcelona’s Lionel Messi has bagged the FIFA Ballon d’Or 2015.
Messi wins this award for the fifth consecutve year after a stellar season, this time beating Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo and his Barcelona team mate Neymar Jr.
The 28-year old individual on regaining the golden bauble: “It is a special moment to win another Ballon d’Or after watching Cristiano win. It is incredible it is my fifth, more than I dreamed of as a kid.”
“I would like to thank all who voted for me, my teammates and football in general for everything it has brought me, bad and good, it has made me grow and learn always.”
According to the reports, Messi got 41.33% of the total voting while Cristiano bagged 27.76% and Neymar only 7.86%.
Messi attended the event alongside girlfriend, and mother of his two children, Antonella Roccuzzo.
The Barcelona superstar sat next to Cristiano Ronaldo and Roccuzzo throughout the lavish ceremony and was part of the FIFA World XI for 2015 as well.
Either Messi or Ronaldo, who became a three-time winner last year, have won the past eight awards.
