Bangladesh crashed to a massive 7-0 defeat against South Korea in the 17th Asian Games Hockey at the Sonhok Hockey Stadium, Incheon, Korea yesterday.

The eighth ranked team in the world took the lead in the 4th minute through Kim and three minutes later Man Kyong Kang doubled the margin. The result remained same in the first quarter. In the second quarter Dai Kyun added another to make it 3-0. Bangladesh came close in the 17th minute but forward Pushkor Khisha Mimo’s hit was gloved away by the Korean goalkeeper.

The third quarter saw Bangladesh concede another two and fall 5-0 down, while in the fourth and last quarter Zong Yan Zeng and Han U Nam netted two more from the penalty corners to complete the rout.

Bangladesh lost to Japan 8-0 in the first match, 5-1 to Malaysia in the second match, beat Singapore 2-1 in the third before ending the group phase with the thrashing yesterday. Bangladesh now will take on Oman in the 7th-8th place decider on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh golf team were placed 9th out of the 20 countries taking part in golf team event. In the Individual section Sajib Ali is in 18th position, Nazim 30th, Ismail 39th and Sagor 54th. A total of 81 players are taking part in the individual section.
