The returning officer for Dhaka South City Corporation polls on Saturday served show-cause notice on Awami League-backed candidate Sayeed Khokon and Jatiya Party-backed candidate Saifuddin Ahmed Milon for the mayoral race in the corporation to explain reasons behind violation of election code of conducts.
The returning officer, Mihir Sarwar Morshed, said Sayeed Khokon went on electioneering at Chawkbazar mosque after jumma prayers on Friday which was violation of the code of conduct.
‘So the commission served a notice on him to explain by 3:00pm Sunday why legal steps would not be taken against him,’ he added.
Meanwhile, another notice was also issued against, Saifuddin Ahmed Milon, as his posters were shown at some areas of the city. The notice also asked him to submit his explanation by 3:00pm Sunday.
