Khandker Mahbub among 3 BNP leaders held

 

Plainclothes police on Tuesday held three BNP leaders, including party chairperson’s adviser Khandker Mahbub Hossain, from two different areas of the capital.

 

Khandker Mahbub Hossain, also the vice-president of Bangladesh Bar Council, was picked up around 2:15pm.

 

“Khandker Mahbub was held near Kadam Foara intersection adjacent to the Jatiya Press Club by DB police and taken to the DB headquarters at Minto Road,” deputy commissioner (public relations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Masudur Rahman, told UNB.

 

Mahbub was held immediately after he had left the Jatiya Press Club premises where he addressed a discussion meeting on the January 5 parliamentary polls as the chief guest.

 

The discussion meeting was organised by Bangladesh Sommilito Peshajibi Parishad.

 

Later, around 3:20 pm, a DB team arrested BNP leaders Fazlul Haque Milon and Nazimuddin Ahmed, MP, from the city’s DOHS area.

 

Connected, general secretary of Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal Shirin Sultana said police arrested the BNP leaders while they were in a meeting with BNP chief whip Zainul Abedin Farooque at his DOHS office.

 

The meeting was attended, among others, by Lion Harun ur Rashid MP, Ashraf Uddin Nizam, MP.
