BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia will address a rally of her party’s lawyers’ forum scheduled for Saturday to protest the killing of Narayanganj lawyer Chandan Sarker.
The rally of Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum will be held on the Supreme Court premises at 10 a.m, a spokesman of the forum said.
Chandan Sarker was killed late last month along with six other people in Narayanganj following their abductions. Among the six other killed were Nazrul Islam, a panel mayor of Narayanganj city corporation who is also a local leader of the governing Awami League.
“Begum Khaleda Zia will attend the programme as the chief guest while Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum president Rafiqul Islam Miah will preside over it,” JAF secretary general Mahbubuddin Khokan told a press conference.
Khokan said their programme is also meant for registering the lawyers’ protest against what he said interference of the executive branch into the judiciary.
